I have swollen glands and some kind of nasty cold coming on, the perfect excuse to just sit and look at pictures of beadwork. I don’t know if you ever noticed that Beadwork magazine sells individual patterns on their site that were previously published, then periodically recycles them? Well, they are featuring Lisa Kan right now as the “Bead Artist of the Month,” and I noticed a picture of Lisa’s “Petit Fiore Trellis Bracelet” from the April/May 2008 issue. I like working with right angle weave as a base for my designs and decided to look up the article. By the way, if you like delicate, lacy and floral designs, that particular issue has them in abundance.
So I located the issue in my files, and while flipping pages I rediscovered Dustin Wedekind’s article on Hexagonal Netting (p. 13), which relates to some of my other designs:
I orient the sides of the hexagons in a way I think makes flat shaping easier, but maybe it’s just the way my mind works. Have you ever tried beadweaving with hexagons?
